As an independent opticians we are free to offer you the best frames from a wide range of manufacturers. This means you’ll find attractive designs at reasonable prices. You can take as long as you need to select your frames. We only offer high quality lenses including the latest advanced varifocals and ultra-thin & light lenses. These will give you better quality vision and make your glasses look better and feel more comfortable.

Our eye examinations offer much more than just checking to see if you need glasses, we provide a detailed assessment of your eye health and a full explanation of your vision.

Our History

Our Founder & Managing Director, Graeme, opened his first practice in Cardonald in 2005. Having graduated in 1996, Graeme worked across a range of multiple practices’ and very quickly realised that he had a real passion for community based eye care. He relished being able to spend the time with each patient, to ensure that their optical needs were being met without exception. When the opportunity arose for him to open his own practice, he concluded that he would then be able to implement a gold standard of care, and enthuse all who worked with him to the same ethos.

Following on from Cardonald, Graeme expanded into Midlothian and opened his second practice in Bonnyrigg, quickly followed by practices in Bellshill and Wishaw in 2007 and 2009 respectively. In 2014 our Cardonald practice moved a few doors along into a purpose built facility, following the purchase of another optical practice.

In addition to the community practices, Graeme also founded our Domiciliary (At Home) Service. This expansion was in response to his patients’ requests that they have access to the same friendly and professional service that he had built his reputation on, in the comfort of their own homes, or indeed within a care setting.

With our fifth practice due to open shortly, the Brown Opticians family is growing!
